Agenda

Gordon Johnson is running for state Senate and would be the first Black state senator in Bergen history. He currently serves as Chairman of the Commerce and Economic Development Committee in the State Assembly and is helping small businesses recover from the pandemic and fighting for working families by tackling income inequality. Recently, Gordon Johnson helped write new laws that will provide one hundred million dollars in economic relief to New Jersey businesses, worked tirelessly to extend unemployment benefits, and championed laws to reduce income inequality by establishing a fifteen dollar minimum wage, guaranteeing earned sick leave, expanding paid family leave benefits, and increasing eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit.

Additionally, Gordon Johnson has worked tirelessly to keep us safe throughout the pandemic, while making sure our families, seniors, veterans, small businesses, workers, and healthcare heroes get the relief they need. We can count on him to fight for us, just as he’s led the way to expand access to healthcare, increase the minimum wage, protect LGBTQ equality and tackle systemic racial injustice.

It is important for Bergen County residents to know the important leadership Gordon Johnson has shown that has led to the endorsements from both, Governor Phil Murphy and Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, which include:

  • Putting Our Health and Safety First – Leading efforts to improve our COVID-19 response and stop the spread of the virus, including protecting seniors and veterans at long-term care residences.

  • Delivering Main Street Relief For Local Businesses – Ensuring restaurants and local businesses can keep their doors open today and thrive when the pandemic is over.

  • Providing Economic Relief to Residents – Making sure our families, including out-of-work residents, get the help they need through this challenging time.

  • Stepping Up for Our Frontline Healthcare Heroes – Providing direct financial assistance to frontline caregivers and funding for personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Fighting for Social Justice – Taking swift action to tackle systemic racial injustice and make NJ a leader in reform.

  • Stemming the Tide of Gun Violence – Fighting for stronger laws to keep our families and communities safe.

  • Protecting the Environment — Fighting for clean air and water, while looking towards to the future of a green economy.
